Idle Hands Are The Devil’s Tools

British researchers recently looked at the effect of outdoor activity on the mental state of 1,200 people. The not-so-surprising surprising result: those who walked, cycled, fished, farmed and gardened in green, outdoor spaces saw mood improvements. While everyone benefited, the young and “mentally ill” were reported to show the largest gain. The effect held true even with as little as 5 minutes exposure, and areas with water showed the most benefit. So my recommendation for this weekend is to get out into nature, you’ll be glad you did. It doesn’t take much, even a quick stroll through the park holding hands with your significant other can make a world of difference.
