The drugmaker Boehringer Ingelheim has ceased work on filbanserin, their most recent concoction attempting to treat the recently defined hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD). The experimental drug was aimed at premenopausal women with a persistent and unexplained lack of sex drive, but was judged largely ineffective with “unacceptable risks”. read more »

Sitting Can Kill

The good folks at Louisiana’s Oschner Health Institute studied the health and activity habits of 120,000 people over a 14 year period from 1993 to 2006. Sitting six hours a day was found to be a major health risk. Even after adjusting for things like smoking history and body mass index, a surprisingly lower of lifespan could be attributed to sitting.
